I have a master’s degree in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman's University. During the Graduate school years, I had the opportunity to work at a Crisis Intervention and Trauma agency where I counseled men and women facing addiction recovery, family of origin difficulties, grief, trauma and depression. I am also a certified school counselor and am sensitive to the needs of parents and children.
I completed the 3000 post graduate hours required for licensed therapists in Texas at McKinney Counseling and Recovery where I worked primarily with issues relating to infidelity, sexual addiction, trauma and C-PTSD. I have completed specialty training with Dr. Doug Weiss and am a Certified Sexual Recovery Therapist with the focus on sexual addiction and intimacy anorexia recovery. I am also an APSATS Certified Partner Specialist (CCPS) with the focus on the trauma treatment of the partner of the addict. I am EMDR trained and offer treatment for PTSD.
I stay acitve in connecting and working with fellow mental health professionals across the country. I am a member of the Texas Counseling Association, North Texas Sexual Health Professionals, and Collin County Psychological Association (CCPA). I am a former founding board member of the Association of Partners of Sex Addicts Trauma Specialists (APSATS),
On a personal note, people often ask me where I am from. I moved a lot in my life. I was raised in Sweden and lived there for 12 years. I lived in Kuwait for 5 years, where I attended British and American schools. I have been in the U.S for 30 years. I have lived in Louisiana, New Mexico and I have lived in Texas for the last twenty years. My multicultural back ground serves me well in my work, as I understand cultural differences, family structures and religions.
I have been married to my husband for 30 years, and we have two adult children and a grandson.
